November Kiddos

Loïs

* loves her swimming lessons
* builds all kinds of structures with Duplos
* has developped a liking for writing: She asks for words (sometimes English words) that I dictate letter by letter
* draws all the time
* signals that she’ll try to pronounce a few English words in her next sentence by starting it with “Mommy”
* was convinced the baby was a girl, now says “it’s a girl and we’ll see soon enough”

Daniel

* builds towers with Duplos, which often become mobile phones
* plays “pew pew” and we don’t know where this game comes from
* announce his presence shouting with a hoarse voice, like a man (and carries on with “pew pew”)
* loves school
* loves music
* is a baby or a dog when they play house

… and they love their new bedroom

That Saturday

It was a start. Loïs had gone back to bed at 7.30, letting us stay in bed till 8.00. It was Saturday after all. 15 minutes later Daniel had woken up though, but they had accepted to play quietly with Duplos and we were ready to get up anyway. A bit of edgniness at breakfast, but no need to panic. That’s when we hit the dark side of parenthood […]

Back to School

I’ve always loved going back to school. New supplies, classmates that you haven’t seen in two months, new things to discover, a new teacher,… I’ve always cherished the last days of holidays as little treasures before pushing the school’s doors and stepping into autumn.

I must admit though I’ve never waited for schools to go back as much as this year! […]

How the BEM Started

How amazing all you can find on the Internet. Today, a short video from the archives of the Belgian army, and a very special one! Watch founders of the Belgian Evangelical Mission (our missionary organization) Ralph and Edith Norton distributing packages to the Belgian soldiers in the midst of WWI in 1917.

BEM Conference Week 2016

With a delay of four months let us share with you a few images of the biannual retreat and conference week of the BEM personnel. This year the speaker for the missionaries working in French-speaking Belgium was Daniel, elder in the church we attend when we visit Yann’s family.

Birds

One or two years ago I placed a birdhouse in the garden and this spring Eurasian blue tits nested in it. Putting Danny to bed one afternoon I discovered a juvenile out in the garden. After the photo shooting we left hit alone to never see it again. Let’s hope it is now safe from cat’s harm!
